Green Party calls for the removal of #ATOS from benefits assessments #ukpolitics

Green Party members yesterday voted to pass an emergency motion calling on the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to stop using IT firm ATOS as its assessor of benefit claimants.

Concerns have been raised over the company's suitability to conduct assessments, ranging from the lack of disabled access at their assessment centres to the shocking fact that 40% of their decisions have been found to be wrong on appeal [1].

Atos - University Accreditation in "Disability Analysis"

The latest announcement from Atos Healthcare could be perceived as a rather cynical bid to add credibility to the contentious health exams it carries out for the DWP.

The subsidiary of French IT firm Atos Origin has joined forces with University of Derby - Corporate to accredit training for Atos Nurses. Their Certificate of Achievement - Disability Analysis will give Nurses 30 of 120 credits required for a BSC (Hons) in Nursing.

WordPress.com and Libel (thank you to @rantsfromron)

Great news (for a change) bloggers!

Suffice it to say that very few UK-based disability campaigners are likely to forget that the Carerwatch discussion forum was shut down by its hosting service after French IT firm Atos had a  hissyfit  & accused CW of libel - over of a mere HYPERLINK.

The brilliant Ron Graves of http://ronsrants.wordpress.com queried WordPress.com (which also hosts TCC) about their strategy and process in dealing with accusations of libel on the part of blogs hosted on their servers.

CarerWatch Forum and the risk of potentially 'libellous' hyperlinks

French IT firm Atos has finally shed some light on the "libellous" post which prompted them to strong-arm the CarerWatch Forum host into de-activating the service.

"The posting which we consider to be defamatory against Atos Healthcare and our employees is dated March 23rd, 8:51 pm."

Yes, this uproar is off the back of a post from five months ago.
